SILICON Valley-backed start-up STOCS has bolstered its leadership team with the key appointment of a Chief Commercial Officer who has an impressive record in global retail recommerce.
Juan Viviani, who previously headed up commercial operations and returns at UK & Nordics Dixons Carphone (now Currys), which generated revenue of $12.8bn, has joined to help innovate the sector and grow global sales.
CEO and founder Sheldon Miller said: “I am delighted Juan is joining our leadership team. He was the No1 target for this role due to his impressive track record.
“He has made an immediate impact, helping with our UK launch – our third operational base, with plans for further expansion over the coming years. Juan will also be heading up the US growth strategy, based Stateside from May.”
STOCS, which stands for Software & Technology Optimizing Circular Sustainability, is building the world’s first AI-driven global resale market for enterprise retailers and brands.
Globally, some $2.3 trillion of retail surplus stock is generated every year through customer returns and overstocks. One third goes to landfill, creating methane emissions, which have 80 times the global warming impact of CO2. The rest is sold on the secondary market which suffers from a number of problems that often result in poor returns for retailers and brands.
Retail value is eroded with an estimated $100bn in market leakage due to poor quality or incomplete data. STOCS is building proprietary software and technology solutions to rethink the way reverse logistics works.
Viviani said: “I am delighted to be joining STOCS, a company that brings innovative thinking to the global secondary market. I thrive on challenges and welcome the opportunity to be part of a leadership tem with the ambition to reshape an entire sector that is in much need of tech automation and optimization.”
As Reverse Logistics Association (RLA) Diamond Members, Miller and Viviani are attending the RLA 20th Anniversary Expo in Las Vegas (February 6-8). They will also attend Manifest Supply Chain Expo that takes place in Vegas the same week.
